Remember loved ones at Wolves' annual memorial service

Wolves are once again inviting supporters to pay tribute to friends and family who have passed away in recent years at the club’s Annual Service of Remembrance.

Taking place at St Peter’s Collegiate Church, in Wolverhampton City Centre, this year’s service will begin at 12.30pm on Saturday 2nd March, ahead of the Premier League fixture against Cardiff City at Molineux (3pm kick-off).

The annual commemorative event invites fans to remember their loved ones both by name and by lighting a candle and is expected to last 45 minutes, allowing time for the congregation to make their way to the stadium for kick-off.

The yearly service offers an alternative way for the club and fans to remember and celebrate the lives of members of the ‘Wolves family’ no longer with us and an opportunity for loved ones to be remembered either individually or as a group.

Several much-loved figures with strong links to Wolves have passed away over the last year, including legendary defender Bill Slater and former club forward Johnny Walker.

Wolves’ Club Chaplain, the Rector of Wolverhampton, Rev Preb David Wright will once again lead the commemorations and welcomes all supporters, who are encouraged to wear club colours if they wish.

“It is a privilege to once again be asked to lead the annual service of remembrance where people can remember those members of the Wolves family who are no longer with us,” says Preb Wright.

“Remembering plays an important part in all of our lives, and we look forward to welcoming supporters to give thanks to those whom they love that have passed away.

“It is always a poignant service, and the chance for the football club and the community to come together and recognise the lives and the contributions of so many who shared a passion for the football club and the city of Wolverhampton as a whole.”

Supporters are requested to email fans@wolves.co.uk with the names of loved ones they wish to remember during the service, and these will be printed and handed out on the day. Please send an email before 5pm on Wednesday 27th February to be included.
