Wolverhampton Building Supplies support sends Wolves podcast to top of the charts

Wolves’ hit new podcast Old Gold Club has flourished with the support of local builders merchants and Official Club Partner Wolverhampton Building Supplies.

Launched in October and hosted by Mikey Burrows and Chris Iwelumo, Old Gold Club went straight into the Sports and Recreation podcast charts at number five, and racked up an impressive 15,000 downloads and 100,000 views on Facebook and YouTube in the first six weeks alone.

Wolverhampton Building Supplies, who deliver quality goods at affordable prices across the West Midlands, were on board from the beginning and their investment helped fund a podcast recording studio at Molineux where each episode is filmed and recorded.

So far, Carl Ikeme, Tony Daley, Kenny Hibbitt, Terry Connor, Scott Golbourne, Karl Henry, David Kelly and Ally Robertson have been inducted into the Old Gold Club, with a new episode and a different former Wolves star landing at 6pm every Wednesday on Facebook, YouTube and all podcast providers.

Wolves managing director Laurie Dalrymple said: “We are delighted to have been able to offer a really unique, in-depth and regular, weekly piece of content to supporters this season in the shape of the Old Gold Club, and very thankful for the support of Wolverhampton Building Supplies.

“Simon and his team have believed in this idea since its inception in the summer and have helped our media team make it a reality, and the response from supporters and listeners has been fantastic.

“The Old Gold Club is the first piece of Wolves content that is truly multiplatform and I am sure it will continue to grow and grow.”

Wolverhampton Building Supplies director Simon Parton said: “We are local and lifelong Wolves supporters, proud partners of the club and absolutely thrilled to be able to support its media team with the Old Gold Club.

“Mikey and Chris do an outstanding job getting the best out of some of Wolves’ finest former players and staff, and the show is really blossoming now we are eight episodes in.

“This is an exciting time for both Wolves and Wolverhampton Building Supplies, and we are extremely delighted to be working together on a ground-breaking project like the Old Gold Club.”
