Luke Rawlings is keen for Wolves under-17s to put all of their hard work into practice when they take to the Molineux pitch in the U17 Premier League Cup final on Thursday.
Chelsea stand in the way of the silverware and despite expecting a tough game, midfielder Rawlings believes the team can grasp the opportunity. The youngster scored in all three group stages matches on the way to the final and has also made his under-21 debut this season – something he is grateful for and hopes can be replicated in the near future.
On being excited for the game
“It’s a great opportunity for us. We’ve all been working hard and have worked hard to get to this stage.
“We’re excited to show what we’ve achieved this season and hopefully we’ll come away with the result.”
On stepping up into the group
“It was a new environment for me as an under-16 going into an older age group. I was just doing what I can for the team and showing the quality I have.
“I’m glad I can help the team in the way I did and hopefully there’s more to come in the future.
“They were good goals and hopefully they helped the team get to where it is now. I’m just happy to keep working hard and scoring goals for the team when I can.”
On making his PL2 debut
“I’m really grateful to the club for giving me these opportunities, believing in me and hopefully I haven’t disappointed.
“I’ll always take those opportunities and keep striving for more in the future.”
On facing Chelsea
“We’re not expecting an easy game but we’re ready and we’re working on it.
“Hopefully our hard work will pay off in the end.”
On playing at Molineux
“It’s an unreal opportunity for all of us. We’re still young and being given these opportunities is surreal.
“Not many get to do this sort of thing and it’s all credit to the team doing so well recently. Hopefully we can come away with the result.
“It was a great win the other day against Man City. Hopefully we can just give the same energy and go in with the win.”
