Wolves working with Sportslink in Tanzania

Wolves recently visited Tanzania to work with new football development partner club, Sportslink.

Earlier this month, the Wolves Academy sent coaches Ryan Griffiths and Sunny Dulai to Tanzania to deliver a series of soccer camps, sharing the practices, drills and ethos used at Compton Park with young footballers in Tanzania.

This trip forms part of a wider partnership which will see Wolves staff share knowledge and experience with their counterparts at Sportslink on a regular basis. The aim of the partnership is to accelerate the development of elite coaches in Tanzania and provide platforms for young gifted players to showcase their talent. The partnership opportunity extends to the UK, where Wolves will host coaches and young players from Sportslink later in the year.

Aside from coaching education and practical sessions, Wolves will also provide experts at Compton Park to assist with medical, performance and nutritional advice via video link.

Joe Hunt, Wolves international projects manager, said: “We are delighted with our new partnership with Sportslink in Tanzania. It’s exciting for us to be able to share our knowledge with Hadji and his team and grow the Wolves story in Africa.

“As our international football development programme continues to grow, it’s exciting to be able to work with progressive clubs like Sportslink and experience new countries and cultures. While the focus is improving Sportslink players and coaching staff, these kind of partnerships also provide an opportunity for our coaches to experience new countries and cultures. Both Ryan and Sunny have thoroughly enjoyed their time in Tanzania and can’t wait for the next trip.”

Hadji Degigo, manager of Sportslink, added: “Sportslink is where athletes meet opportunities. The aim of the partnership is not only developing our football, for both players and coaches, but also increasing the brand awareness of Wolves.

“Long-term, we aim to create regular youth tournaments and camps with the Wolves name, as well as building sports complexes with high level pitches and accommodation, to improve the hosting experience for professional teams visiting Tanzania.”
