Ennis signs for Plymouth

Wolves Academy graduate Niall Ennis has joined League One side Plymouth Argyle on a permanent basis.

The forward has spent the majority of his career in gold and black having joined his hometown club at the age of eight before rising through the ranks at Wolves to sign his first professional contract in 2015.

It was due to his success at the club’s Academy which saw Ennis make his international debut for England at youth level, scoring several times for England under-17s, as well as making appearances up to the under-19 categories.

Having signed professional terms at Wolves, Ennis scored twice in first-team friendlies during the 2016/17 pre-season, before heading for a loan spell in League One with Shrewsbury Town, which was cut short due to injury.

Ennis worked his way back to fitness with Wolves’ under-23s, helping the team secure promotion into Premier League 2 Division 1, with the forward scoring several goals and putting in a host of key performances throughout the 2018/19 season.

During that title-winning campaign for the development team, Ennis also made his full senior debut for Wolves in the FA Cup fourth round replay against former loan club Shrewsbury, as the old gold ran out 3-2 winners at Molineux.

Since then, Ennis has spent time developing in the EFL with loans at Burton Albion and Doncaster Rovers, where he scored six times, including his first goal in senior football during a 2-1 win over Lincoln City.

Everyone at Wolves would like to thank Niall for all his efforts during the 13 years he has spent at the club and wish him the best of luck for the future.
