Added time heartbreak in U18 Premier League Cup

Chelsea 3 (Scott OG 29, Vale 36, Haigh 90+2) Wolves 2 (Kandola 2, Carty 57)

A goal in the last minute of the match saw Wolves under-18s fall to defeat in the U18 Premier League Cup at Chelsea.

It was the perfect start for Steve Davis’ young side, who had only returned from China less than 48 hours previously following their success in the Zibo International Cup during the weekend, when 15-year-old defender Kam Kandola netted his first goal for the under-18s with just two minutes on the clock.

But Wolves found themselves 2-1 down at the break after Jack Scott unfortunately diverted the ball into his own net before Harvey Vale scored on his Chelsea debut when he fired into the bottom corner.

The visitors levelled the scored early in the second-half with a well-worked move that was finished off by Conor Carty at the near post.

With the game heading to a draw, it was the hosts who had the final say and were able to take all three points in the Group A contest when Joe Haigh headed home to complete the scoring late in stoppage time.

Wolves still have faint hopes of making it through to the knockout stages of the competition, but will need to beat Blackburn Rovers in their final group match, while overturning a six-goal swing to current second-place side Arsenal.
