West Brom 1-2 Wolves | Match Report

West Brom 1 (Brown, 38’) Wolves 2 (Marques, 62’, Forester 90’)

Report by Sam Ward

The home side went into the break with a goal advantage thanks to Zak Brown, but, a valiant second half performance with goals from Christian Marques and Jayden Forrester saw Wolves claim their fourth win of the season.

Wolves started the stronger of the two sides and almost took the lead inside 10 minutes. Theo Corbeanu flicked an effort towards goal, but his effort was smothered well by Josh Griffiths.

In the latter stages of the first half, West Broom took the lead. A floated cross found the head of midfielder Brown, who guided his header beyond Jackson Smith.

Darren Ryan’s side again started brightly. Taylor Perry’s free kick was met by Corbeanu, but struggled to get his header on target.

Wolves grabbed a deserved equaliser midway through the second half. A neat corner-routine was finished off by Marques, planting his header into the bottom corner.

An outstanding save from Jackson Smith kept the scores level as he saved a long-range effort from Eon Ashton.

A great passing move ended with Wolves scoring the decisive goal to take all three points. The ball fell to the feet of substitute Forrester, who took a touch to gain his composure and slotted the ball into the far corner.

MOMENT OF THE MATCH:

With just his third touch, Forrester showcased fantastic awareness to guide his effort into the corner and out of the reach of Griffiths to secure the sides fourth win of the season.
