In-form Herc wants to maintain standards

Under 23’s midfielder Christian Herc believes that the team can continue in their good vein of form as they prepare to take on Fulham this evening (7pm).

The Under-23s are currently unbeaten in the last four games, winning all of them, scoring 13 goals in all competitions, and the eighteen-year-old says there is plenty of belief in the side at the moment.

“We believe we can continue our unbeaten run in the league and cup," says Herc.

“We can’t wait for the next game against Fulham in Telford. I hope we can win again and make it five wins on the bounce.”

And Herc also admitted that the team believe they can win the league this season following fellow Under 23’s player Donovan Wilson’s similar claims last week.

“I believe it will happen, what’s not to believe in. We are a really good group, so our main aim for the season, like Donovan said last week, is to win the league.

“If we continue to perform well in the league, I think we can take over Swansea and get top spot.”

Following his fourth goal in six appearances on Monday evening against Norwich City at Carrow Road, the Slovakian admitted that the team were a little bit disappointed that they couldn’t add more goals in the game which saw them move back to second in the league.

“Of course we were disappointed not to score more than one goal on Monday night," he says.

“In the first half we had two or three really good chances to score but unfortunately we didn’t.

"The other team weren’t great in the first half so we talked at half time about what we could do better and in the second half we were so much better than we were in the first.

“We made so many good chances in the second half but we still couldn’t score more goals but luckily the one we got was enough to win the game."

The goal that secured the win was scored by Herc, from all of 25-yards, and the match winner stated that when he has space on the edge of the box, he will always look to shoot.

“I wouldn’t say it is something I have always had in my locker but when a team mate passes me the ball on the edge of the area, I will always try to shoot and luckily enough for me this season, quite a few of my shots have found the back of the net," he adds.

“In every game I play I am looking to score a goal, I want to improve my record.”
