Lily Simkin arrived at Wolves in February 2025 with the midfielder strengthening Dan McNamara's FAWNL Northern Premier Division side.

Hailing from nearby Great Wyrley, Simkin followed in the footsteps of her father, Darren, who turned out for the Old Gold during the 1990s. By making her Wolves Women debut in a 4-0 win over Sporting Khlasa at SEAH Stadium - which also saw Simkin named 'Player of the Match' - the pair became the first ever father and daughter duo in history to represent Wolves' two senior teams.

Earlier in her career, Simkin came through the youth system at Birmingham City and her strong form with the Blues earned recognition within the England youth groups, including caps at under-17 level.

The midfielder also represented Birmingham in the Women's Super League as a teenager, making her senior first-team debut at just 16, as substitute in a 3-0 defeat away to Brighton & Hove Albion, before her full debut came the following game with a start against eventual league champions Chelsea.

During the later stages of her Blues career, Simkin suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury which kept her sidelined for more than a year, but she returned to fitness to feature for Wolves during the 2024/25 season.

However, just over a month into her Wolves career, another serious knee injury cut Simkin's first Old Gold campaign short, with the midfielder continuing her recovery at Compton Park.
