Following a hugely impressive first 18 months at the club, Mario Lemina was named Wolves captain ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Gabon international midfielder Mario Lemina joined the club in January 2023, having previously experienced the Premier League with Southampton and Fulham, and signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.
A powerful, dynamic midfielder who has also been utilised out wide and in defence during his career, such is his versatility, began his senior career in France with Lorient and then Marseille.
Lemina won two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias and featured in a Champions League final with Juventus, and represented Galatasaray between his Premier League stints, before moving to Nice in 2021.
18 successful months with the Ligue 1 side followed for the midfield, who was a runner up in the Coupe de France in 2020.
Julen Lopetegui’s first signing as Wolves manager in January 2023, Lemina made an instant impact at Molineux, helping the club to Premier League survival in the heart of the midfield.
In his first full season at Molineux, Lemina forged a partnership with Joao Gomes in the midfield, and added five goals to his record – the first coming against Newcastle United in October 2023.
Having been voted Player of the Year by his supporters, the Gabon international continued his progression by being handed the captain’s armband while on pre-season in the United States in the summer of 2024.
