Wolves Women head to on Stoke on Sunday for their final away game of the season, hoping to continue on the tails of league leaders Burnley.
Travelling to Wellbeing Park one point behind the Clarets, they know that a win against the Potters and a slip up from the leaders at Hull would put the Old Gold top of the pile going into the final day of the campaign.
Setting the Scene
Dan McNamara’s side travel to the Potteries in fine form after demolishing third placed Rugby Borough 4-0 just before Easter, with the first three goals coming inside 25 minutes. That victory – Wolves’ game in hand – means the title race will continue into the final two weeks of the season.
Alex Brooks and the Old Gold defence have conceded just two goals in all competitions in 2026 but will face a tough test against a Stoke side who have already run Wolves close on three separate occasions this season.
Wolves have won 2-1 in the league and FA WNL Cup this season, while also leaving it late to secure a 2-0 win in the FA Cup earlier this campaign, with a resolute Stoke side causing problems in all three games. They will be looking to end the season strongly and bounce back from their 1-0 defeat at Loughborough last time out. Stoke could play the decider in the title race as they travel to Burnley on the final day of the campaign.
