The FAWNL Northern Premier Division’s top two sides battle it out on Sunday afternoon as Wolves travel to Burnley knowing a win could cement their place at the summit.
With both sides unbeaten in the league this season so far – and having already battled out a 0-0 draw earlier in the campaign – it is set to be an enthralling encounter in a game that will have implications at the top of the table regardless of the result.
Wolves currently sit two points ahead of the Clarets on 34 with a goal difference of +29, while the Lancashire side sit on 32 with a goal difference of +22.
Setting the Scene
Wolves responded to their only defeat of the season – a 2-1 reverse against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup – with a 3-0 victory over West Brom in the Black Country Derby just before Christmas thanks to goals from Anna Morphet, Amber Hughes and Amy Sims, which was their tenth successive league win.
Burnley rounded off their 2025 a week earlier with a 7-0 win over Peterborough United in the FA Cup, having previously seen off Middlesbrough 3-1 away from home in their last league fixture of the year.
