Amber Hughes was delighted to score her 100th goal for Wolves as they beat Stoke City in the FAWNL on Sunday afternoon.
The striker has been prolific during her time at Wolves, finding the net for the 100th time in just 113 appearances after signing back in the summer of 2021.
After making it a century of goals in Old Gold, Hughes shared her thoughts on the achievement, the goal she scored and the performance and start to the season so far.
On scoring 100 Wolves goals
“It feels amazing. Obviously, there has been a bit of build-up to this week, but ultimately, I’m here to help the team.
“But for myself, it was a really nice and special moment and one that I’m really glad to celebrate with the girls.”
On the goal itself
“I don’t score many with my left foot, but I think it came to me, and I thought this was my moment. I’m just going to hit it.
“I’m glad it went in like that and I could celebrate as we did.
“I had that planned [the celebration] myself, and I didn’t tell anyone else. I was looking forward to it if it came.”
On the performance
“We battled right to the end. We jumped into every tackle, made every run and I think it’s a really big three points for us.
“It was a tough afternoon, and that is credit to Stoke. They are a really well-drilled team.
“But credit to ourselves that we matched them and got the job done.”

On the start to the season
“I think if anyone offered us this at the start of the season, we would have snapped your hand off.
“But it’s down to our hard work and graft and also the coaching staff as well. It’s a team effort.”
