Sims | 'I’m ready to get started'

New Wolves Women signing Amy Sims is looking forwards to finally having the Old Gold supporters on her side having come up against the team as an opposition player several times over her career.

The former Derby County captain became the latest addition to Dan McNamara’s squad ahead of the 2025/26 FAWNL Northern Premier Division campaign, and having lifted the title last season with Wolves’ league rivals Nottingham Forest, the midfielder is hoping to make it back-to-back successes, but this time in a gold and black shirt.

On becoming a Wolves player

“It feels really good and I’m just really excited to get going now. I’ve just heard really good things and I’m ready to get started.

“I’m someone that will just give everything in the shirt. I’ve always been a player that puts all of it in on a game day and uses all of the training ground and everything that has been provided for me to then go out and put on a top performance on a Sunday.”

On experiences of facing Wolves

“It’ll be nice to actually be on the home side of the Wolves fans because you can always hear them as an away player.

“I’m looking forwards to actually playing at Telford and having the home fans backing me there.”

On positive talks ahead of joining

“I’ve spoken to a few players who have been here and you always hear positive things, but it shows with the amount of girls that stay on at Wolves as well. That’s a credit to them because they’re always pushing at that top of the table.

“So it didn’t really take much for Macca to convince me to join. Not really. He just says it how it is and it sounded like a really exciting project and something that, straight away, sounded like I wanted to be a part of. There wasn’t much convincing, and now I just can’t wait to get going.”

On aiming for a second successive promotion

“That’s definitely going to be the aim for everyone in the team for next season. Doing it back-to-back would be really nice.

“Obviously, the big aim's always going to be promotion, but for me, I just want to play as much football as I can. Just keep producing the good performances and try to get Wolves that one step further this year.”
