McNamara voted Manager of the Month for April

Wolves Women boss Dan McNamara has become the second Old Gold manager to have been voted Manager of the Month for April.

After his men’s first-team counterpart Vitor Pereira received the Premier League’s award for a 100 per cent record last month, McNamara has done the same thanks to two big wins to round off his side’s FAWNL Premier Division campaign.

The women’s first-team manager was up against Plymouth Argyle’s James Bradley, Nottingham Forest’s Carly Davies and Watford’s Renee Hector, and McNamara came out on top following his 100% record in April.

McNamara’s side started the month with a 6-1 hammering of Halifax Women on the road, which saw goals from Beth Merrick, Amber Hughes and Rachael Quigley, while Charlotte Greengrass’ hat-trick put her in prime position to claim the league’s Golden Boot title.

This win was followed up by another six-goal rout on the final day of the season, this time back at home of SEAH Stadium in Telford, as Destiney Toussaint opened the scoring with the final goal of her esteemed career, before Hughes tied level with Greengrass at the top of the scoring charts, but by firing home Wolves’ fifth of the afternoon, it was the former Forest striker who claimed the trophy.

The two victories ensured Wolves would finish the season in second place in the division, three points behind champions Forest, and having lost only once during the entire season.

Following another impressive season at the Old Gold helm, McNamara was also nominated for the 2024/25 FAWNL Manager of the Year.
