Wolves Women will be part of Adobe Women’s FA Cup history once again on Saturday as they take on Nottingham Forest in Channel 4’s first ever broadcast of the competition.
Taking place at the alternative venue of Keys Park, Hednesford, old rivalries are reignited as we face a Forest side who the Old Gold are no strangers to in recent years. Now a WSL2 side – one league above Wolves – Dan McNamara’s side have aspirations to be in their place next season and will see this contest not just as a chance to progress in the cup, but also as a marker for the future.
The Venue
Keys Park Stadium, Keys Park Rd, Hednesford, Cannock WS12 2DZ
Setting the Scene
30 matches unbeaten in the league with Manchester United the only side to beat Wolves in all competitions in 2025 so far, McNamara’s women will have every confidence they can cause an upset on Saturday lunchtime. Last Sunday saw Wolves plunder five goals past Liverpool Feds at the SEAH Stadium thanks to two from skipper Anna Morphet and one each Amber Hughes, Georgia Marshall and Charlotte Greengrass.
That said, Nottingham Forest will be by far the toughest opponent Wolves have faced since that United clash with the ‘Tricky Trees’ living up to their nickname following a brilliant start to life in the WSL2 this season. Adapting to their new league they have already claimed five wins from their ten matches and sit fifth in the table behind Newcastle United and three established second tier side – Charlton, Birmingham and Bristol City. Their last match saw them record a 3-1 win over Sunderland at the City Ground.
No Strangers Here
When the draw was made it caught the attention of most, but no-one more than Wolves no.2 Lyndsey Harkin. A lifelong Forest fan, title winning captain and club ambassador there will be split loyalties in the Harkin family this weekend. Alongside ‘Lynno’ in the Wolves squad are several other former Forest stars including Becky Anderson, Amy Sims, Charlotte Greengrass and Amber Hughes. Bec Thomas is also a former Forest keeper, while Louanne Worsey also spent time there on loan.

We’ve Got History
It’s not just in the league where Forest and Wolves have done battle over the years and it won’t be the first time the pair have met in the FA Cup either…
04/04/21 | Wolves 2-2 Forest (5-4 pens) | Women’s FA Cup Second Round
Bec Thomas was the penalty shoot-out hero as she saved a sudden death spot kick to ensure fourth tier Wolves beat third tier Forest in 2021. Jade Cross and Nyah Edwards were on target for the Old Gold at Castlecroft, while Rosie Axten scored twice for the away side.
