Women's Report | Wolves 5-1 Liverpool Feds

Wolves 5 (Marshall 3, Greengrass 29, Hughes 36 & Morphet 45+3 & 47) Liverpool Feds 1 (Brady 25)

Wolves Women secured an emphatic 5-1 victory over Liverpool Feds in the FAWNL at the SEAH Stadium.

Georgia Marshall, Charlotte Greengrass, Amber Hughes and Anna Morphet all appeared among the goals as the Old Gold proved to be dominant from set-piece scenarios.

Wolves will hope to take confidence into next week’s FA Cup clash against Nottingham Forest in Hednesford.

The Old Gold once again took an early lead, this time from a corner which was swung into the box by Morphet. There to head home was Georgia Marshall who opened the scoring in the third minute.

Few chances followed for the next 20 minutes, but Louanne Worsey fired the best narrowly wide of Eva Spencer’s goal on the quarter-hour mark.

However, Feds netted an equalising goal just ten minutes later through Jess Brady. A hopeful ball from the visitors allowed Brady to run through one versus one before she slotted past Alex Brooks.

Conceding the equaliser sparked Wolves back into life as they rounded out the first half with three more goals of their own.

Firstly, Greengrass found the back of the net after Hughes fired a ball into her path, before the forward spun and found the bottom corner from close range.

Hughes got on the scoresheet soon after. A scramble in the box from a Beth Merrick corner resulted in the ball dropping to Hughes who poked home.

Rounding off the first half goals was Morphet, who sent a looping header over Spencer and into the goal in what turned out to be the last action before the interval.

Half Time | Wolves 4-1 Liverpool Feds

Wolves began the second half as they finished the first. This time, Morphet found the back of the net directly from an Old Gold corner to score an outrageous fifth goal for the hosts and secure her brace.

An even contest resumed for the next 20 minutes with few chances falling for both teams. Amy Sims fizzed a pass into the path of substitute Racheal Quigley, but the forward was just inches from controlling the ball.

In the dying embers, Sims had a thunderous strike well saved by Spencer to deny Dan McNamara's side of a sixth.

Feds had continued to probe for a consolation goal, but Wolves saw out the game well, securing victory in Telford.
