Derby 0 Wolves 2 (Greengrass 6 & 84)
Wolves Women earned a hard-fought away victory as they defeated Derby County Women 2-0 in the FAWNL.
An early goal from Charlotte Greengrass capped off a brilliant interchange between her and Amy Sims before Greengrass completed her brace with six minutes to go, securing a vital Wolves win at the Don Amott Arena.
After two chances for the hosts in the opening exchanges, Wolves continued their habit of scoring early goals through Charlotte Greengrass.
A superb piece of play between Sims and the goalscorer – a double one-two move – meant that the Old Gold opened the scoring in just the sixth minute.
However, the chances came at a premium for the rest of the first half, with both sides doing well to prevent shots on their respective goals.
In additional time, Dan McNamara’s side threatened to extend their advantage, but a series of headers from a set piece couldn’t beat Lucy Jones in the hosts’ goal; the whistle blew for half-time moments later.

As the second half got underway, Wolves floated a series of crosses into the Derby penalty area.
Firstly, substitute Milly Robertson’s cross come shot came agonisingly close to finding the back of the net before Beth Merrick’s delivery stung the palms of Jones, who ultimately held on to the ball.
Just before the hour mark, the Ewes had a series of chances to equalise, but Lyndsey Harkin eventually cleared the ball to ease the pressure on the Old Gold’s defence.
The chances were flowing and Greengrass almost added to her early strike. Sims poked a ball through to the forward, who had a shot well saved by Jones to deny Wolves a second.
Sims and Greengrass continued their link-up play, but the scoreline remained the same until the latter doubled the lead late on.
Morphet’s superb delivery from a corner found the head of Greengrass to seal the victory.
Wolves saw out the rest of the encounter, leaving Derbyshire with a crucial three points.
