McNamara | ‘It was a game of two halves’

Dan McNamara was pleased with his team’s victory as Wolves secured a 4-1 win over Sporting Khalsa in the FAWNL on Wednesday evening.

The boss praised the Old Gold’s first-half display, with the scoreline 3-0, but insists there was work to do after the interval.

On the performance

“That was a game of two halves.

“I described it as an outstanding Wolves performance and a really poor Wolves performance.

“The way the girls moved the ball, the chances they created, the goals they scored [in the first half] and then the second half was a far cry from what we expect.

“But a massive three points in a game that can often be tricky.”

On the first half display

“We can’t complain, we’ve had two fabulous results in a three-game week.

“It’s about winning, this game’s about winning, and we’ve managed to do that.

“The actual quality of your play comes second to winning, but if we had continued our first half play into the second, I felt we would’ve gone away really, really proud.”

On Wolves’ good form

“There’s no interest in any other teams, we’re going about our business, performing well in games and getting results.

“We’ve got a great group of fantastic players and we’ll take it one game at a time and see where it takes us.”
