Women's Preview | Rugby Borough

Two FA Women’s National League heavy-weights do battle in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup First Round on Sunday as Wolves Women host Rugby Borough at Telford.

The third of three consecutive cup games for the Old Gold, the FA Cup offers an opportunity to create more memorable moments in the competition for Dan McNamara’s side who have made the fifth round of the competition for the last two campaigns.

Setting the Scene

Wolves have scored 17 goals without reply in their last two matches, coming into the fixture having beaten Sporting Khalsa 5-0 in the FA WNL and Hednesford Town 12-0 in the Birmingham Challenge Cup.

It’s been three weeks since the team’s last league fixture, which saw them come away with a 2-1 win over Stoke City at the SEAH Stadium, with McNamara’s side sitting second in the table after Burnley’s midweek win at West Brom knocked them off top spot – though they do have a game in hand on the Clarets.

Rugby come into the game having been beaten 1-0 by Middlesbrough in the FA WNL Cup before a 6-0 victory over Solihull Moors in the Birmingham Challenge Cup.
