McNamara | On Black Country derby victory at Molineux

Dan McNamara was proud of his team securing their tenth win in a row over West Bromwich Albion at Molineux on Friday night after a 2-0 victory over the Baggies.

Wolves went in 1-0 up at the break thanks to Amber Hughes' low-driven effort from inside the danger area, before Tammi George wrapped up all three points over the Black Country rivals to ensure the bragging rights for another season.

McNamara spoke about his team's performance, playing at the golden palace in front of just shy of 3,000 people and cramming eight games into a short period of time.

On a hard-fought game

"I said to the girls at the start, they (West Brom) are not the side they were two years ago. They are a good side and have got some good players, and I think you saw that.

"In certain moments of the game, they can be aggressive. They have got moments of quality in them, so really pleased.

"We knew today it was more about dealing with the whole occasion and can you deal with the bigger thing, and the girls have done that.

"It wasn't the finest performance. I think we were probably better on Sunday against Newcastle, but sometimes you have to just get over the line, and today, I thought we did that fantastically well.

"There were a couple of standout performances. I thought Merrick Will was excellent, and I thought Tammi George in moments was outstanding and was probably rightly awarded with the player of the game.

"Really good overall performance, and I told us not to mention it beforehand, but the run goes on (against WBA). I think it's double figures.

"I am really proud of what a fantastic achievement it is to go ten wins on the bounce against Albion. It certainly is a good feeling."

On playing at Molineux with a high attendance

"Fantastic for a Friday night, I thought the game warranted the crowd.

"I thought it was entertaining, there were really good moments in there, it was exciting, and it was about the three points first and foremost, and we had to make sure we got them in the bag, but everyone knew that.

"That record is a nice feeling, and to get to double figures is amazing for the girls and credit to them, the staff and everyone involved.

"It is not easy to beat teams in this league, as we find out week in and week out, so to get one over on them at Molineux and move back above them into fourth with five games in hand is fantastic for everyone associated with the club.

"Hopefully, we can kick on from here now, though. We have eight games left and we want to take as many points as we can, and start creeping towards the top of the table into third and fourth and finish strong, which is the big message from me going into the last eight games."

On games coming thick and fast

"First and foremost, they are going to have the weekend off. We did talk about winning today, and then they will go away and enjoy the weekend with their families.

"It is relentless at times this league and I think for us to cram in eight games in the next six weeks is going to be tough.

"Everyone has to pull together. There are players who have missed out today who are rightly disappointed, but they are going to be needed in the next few weeks to make sure, as I said, to take maximum points and really finish strong.

"Fantastic evening, and hopefully we will enjoy the weekend off and come back refreshed and ready to go again on Tuesday."
