Internationals | Denham and Turner in action this week

Ania Denham and Wales under-17s moved a step closer to qualification for next summer’s European Championships.

The Wolves Women youngster helped her national side to three successive victories in Albania where Wales faced the host nation, Faroe Islands and Kazakhstan.

Denham featured in all three fixtures as Wales started with a 2-0 win over Albania before defeating Kazakhstan by a goal to nil.

The final fixture saw Wales put six past the Faroe Islands with Denham playing 56 minutes before being withdrawn with the scoreline at five.

Wales will now advance into round two of the qualifying campaign ahead of next summer’s Championships in Sweden.

Elsewhere, Shan Turner is back on duty for Northern Ireland for their upcoming Nations League double header.

The goalkeeper is once again part of the 23-strong squad who travel to face Albania on Friday before returning to Belfast to take on the Republic of Ireland at Windsor Park next Tuesday.

Northern Ireland currently sit third in the League B Group 1 table with four points from their opening four games heading into the final two fixtures.
