Cross | 'It's been a while since my last hat-trick'

Hat-trick hero Jade Cross says the 8-0 victory over Stourbridge ‘shows a statement’ after the Old Gold booked their place in the second round of the FA Cup.

Cross opened the scoring inside six minutes as she tapped home from close range after receiving a square ball across the face of goal by Hannah Fryer.

The Wolves number nine was clinical inside the six-yard box as both her other goals came from the same area. Fryer was also the provider on both occasions, with the defender playing two drilled crosses into the danger zone for Cross to poke home.

The forward spoke on the performance and incredible result, scoring a hat-trick and previewed a second cup game in as many weeks, with the Old Gold taking on Boldmere St Michaels in the Birmingham Challenge Cup at Compton Park on Sunday.

On the performance and result

“It was brilliant. We obviously want to get far in the FA Cup, and we got someone like Stourbridge who is in the same league, so it shows a statement as well with an 8-0 win, so really good team performance.”

On scoring a hat-trick

“Any goal is great but it has been a while since I had my last hat-trick so really really pleasing and hopefully many more to come.”

On how pleasing it was to see goals come from all across the pitch

“It is brilliant. It shows us that we have quality all over the pitch, and we can score goals, so it’s really pleasing.”

On keeping a clean sheet

“Ultimately that is the aim - to get a couple of goals and a clean sheet so it’s really good.”

On looking ahead to Boldmere St Michaels in the Birmingham Challenge Cup

“We want to get far in every competition. We are the holders in this cup, so we obviously want to go all the way again.

“Boldmere is a good team, so it will be really good, and hopefully we can take that performance into next week.”
