Women's preview | Forest vs Wolves

Wolves Women travel to Nottingham Forest in the FA Women’s National League on Sunday afternoon.

The two sides meet for the second time this season, just five weeks after Forest were 2-0 winners in the League Cup on 1stOctober.

Since that defeat, Dan McNamara’s side have won all three of their fixtures following victories over Huddersfield Town, Sutton Coldfield Town and West Bromwich Albion.

Two weeks have passed since the Old Gold last stepped out onto the pitch and dispatched of their local rivals in the Black Country derby.

Meanwhile, Forest have lost two of their three games since facing Wolves, with the latest being a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United.

The Reds currently sit fifth in the league table, four points behind Wolves who occupy third place after their opening seven games.

Sunday’s game is a battle between the top two sides in the division last season, as Forest narrowly edged out McNamara’s team on goal difference to win the league title before the Reds lost in the play-off final against Watford to miss out on promotion to the Championship.

WHAT THE GAFFER SAID

“This league this year is so tough, it’s so tough. We’ve just got to keep plodding away.

“It’s an away game at Forest so first and foremost we’ll prepare as we normally do. It was a difficult game up there two or three weeks ago, so it’s not going to be easy.

“We’ll put the trust in the girls, put the game plan together and go up there full of confidence.”
