The draw for the first round proper of the FA Cup took place on Monday and paired the girls in gold and black against Salop, with the cup clash due to take place at on Sunday 13th November at the home of Shrewsbury Town – Montgomery Waters Meadow.
The Shrews – who were promoted to the West Midlands Regional Women's Football League Premier Division last season – are currently sat fourth in their league standings but made it into the first round of the cup following an emphatic 8-0 win over Market Rasen on Sunday.
Wolves are flying high in the FAWNL Northern Premier Division with seven wins from their opening nine league matches and have also discovered their opponents for their opening fixture in the Birmingham County Cup as they aim to retain the title they won last season.
In the first of two trophies McNamara’s side picked up in 2021/22, which also included the Northern Premier Division title, Wolves overcame West Bromwich Albion in an all-Black Country affair at Walsall’s Bescot Stadium.
This season’s County Cup campaign will also begin on the road as – after earning a bye in the first round – Wolves head to Chelmsley Colts for a second round tie on Sunday 20th November.
Wolves are competing in a trio of cups this season, with the FA Women’s National League Cup first round to take place this Sunday (30th October) against Brighouse Town at the Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground. More information about that tie, including ticket details, can be found here.
