Women's preview | Wolves vs West Brom

Wolves Women and West Brom Women do battle under the lights at New Bucks Head in the first Black Country derby of the season on Wednesday evening.

Dan McNamara’s team go into the game against their local rivals having won five of their opening seven fixtures of the league campaign.

A late Amber Hughes goal secured all three points on Sunday afternoon, as Wolves got back on the winning trail at home to Boldmere St Michaels.

The old gold currently sit second in the Northern Premier Division, while the Baggies are down in eighth having collected eight points from their seven matches.

It was Wolves who got the better of their arch-rivals last season, winning both league encounters as well as the County Cup final by four goals to one in May.

Tammi George and Amber Hughes were on the scoresheet when McNamara’s side won 2-0 in August 2021, before the same duo hit the headlines once again back in January.

Both players scored in last season’s 3-0 away victory, in a game where Jade Cross netted her 150th goal in Wolves colours as the bragging rights once again went the way of the old gold.
