U21 Report | Norwich 0-3 Wolves

Norwich 0 Wolves 3 (Wilson OG 2 & 48, Sutherland 60)

Wolves under-21s earned three points in the Premier League 2 against Norwich City at the Avant Training Centre on Friday evening.

After Luke Rawlings and Ethan Sutherland’s effort's deflected off Charles Wilson to give Wolves the advantage, Sutherland’s outstanding effort in the second half wrapped up a committed performance in East Anglia.

Just two minutes into the fixture, the Old Gold took the lead when Rawlings’ effort deflected off the head of Wilson.

The Canaries attempted to respond immediately and put Alfie Brookes to work when he denied Zach Baumann’s low driven effort.

A few minutes later, Sutherland was inches away from doubling Wolves’ advantage when his curled effort, narrowly, skimmed past the far post of Caleb Ansen’s goal.

Saheed Olagunju did enough to put off Baumann as he bore down on goal at the end of the first half, with Norwich’s number 10 dragging his strike wide of the target from close range.

Half-time | Norwich 0-1 Wolves

Sutherland’s deflected effort got Wolves off to a flying start in the second half when the left-back found the back of the net three minutes after the restart.

However, similar to the first half, Brookes was called into action once again and produced a fantastic save to deny Toby Chilvers’ headed effort.

On the hour mark, Sutherland’s first-time strike rifled into the top corner to give Wolves breathing room and placed his name in the hat for the goal of the season award with a stunning finish.

Game management was key for Wolves in the closing quarter of an hour. Collins’ side restricted the hosts of any chances and earned themselves a clean sheet to round off a determined showing.
