U21 Report | Wolves 3-4 Ipswich Town

Wolves 3 (Angel 3’, 6’, Gonzalez 28’) 3 (Ayinde 9’, Mendel-Idowu 33’, Taylor 66’, Pitts 80’) Ipswich Town

The Old Gold faced an agonising defeat against the Tractor Boys; despite holding a 3-2 lead going into half-time, the visitors eventually won the fixture 3-4.

Dani Angel’s lightning-quick brace and Enso Gonzalez’s headed effort originally created the perfect start for Wolves, despite fightback through Leon Ayinde and Tudor Mendel-Idowu.

Ipswich’s Tommy Taylor then got them level in the second half, but a powerful strike from Josh Pitts was the decisive moment.

Wolves got off to an electric start when Angel found the net twice in the opening five minutes.

His first effort took a slight deflection to help it on the way through, before his second strike rifled into the top corner.

Moments later, the visitors fought back through Leon Ayinde to reduce the deficit to one.

The Old Gold continued to push and Enso Gonzalez added to Wolves’ advantage with a well-guided header at the back post just ahead of the half an hour mark.

Remarkably, Sebastian Lochhead put his body on the line at the end of an entertaining first-half and provided a brave block to deny Ipswich an equaliser.

Half-time | Wolves 3-2 Ipswich Town

Ipswich eventually got level when Taylor found the bottom corner from inside the area.

The tempo of the fixture eventually cooled down as both teams looked to gain some control in an intense affair and chances became limited for both sides.

The visitors took the lead for the first time in the game during the closing stages when Pitts’ curling shot found the bottom corner.
