Wolves U21 return to International Cup action on Monday evening with the visit of RB Leipzig to the SEAH Stadium, Telford.
One of five competitions the U21s take part in this season alongside the Premier League 2, National League Cup, Premier League Cup and Vertu Trophy, the International Cup gives the Old Gold youngsters the opportunity to face some of Europe’s best.
Last Time Out
On match day one Wolves narrowly lost out 1-0 to Real Madrid at Molineux in front of almost 4,000 people, but the visit of Leipzig offers a chance to take positives from that performance.
The only goal came in the 84th minute when Bruno Iglesias struck direct from a free-kick to beat Arthur Nasta.
How It Stands
Only Wolves and Real Madrid have featured in Group A so far, with the Old Gold’s upcoming clash against Leipzig set to be just the second match played in the group. Wolves will have two games under their belt before several rivals have even kicked a ball.
The Opposition
RB Leipzig featured in last season’s Premier League Cup, winning two and losing two of their four group matches. They were beaten 3-0 by Brighton and 4-1 by Southampton, but claimed the points at Crystal Palace and Chelsea with 2-1 and 4-2 wins respectively.
Notably, RB Leipzig do not operate an under-21 team within the domestic German leagues, with their squad combining players that make up their under-19 which is currently second in the under-19 Bundesliga.

Pre Match Thoughts
Head Coach James Collins is excited for the new challenge of German opposition, and hopes a good crowd can back the team at the SEAH Stadium.
“It’ll be a challenge against a new team we haven’t played before but we know from what we have seen of them that they have a reputation for really high intensity football.
“It is a game we are really excited for after the late defeat to Real Madrid, because we want to progress and we know a positive result on Monday is important. If we put in a similar performance then we have a really good chance.
“Madrid was a really good night at Molineux, the crowd were incredible, and it was a really good experience for the group. It would be brilliant to see a big crowd at Telford for what we think will be a really entertaining game.”
