Wolves under-21s play their final Premier League Cup group stage fixture at Charlton Athletic on Monday evening.
James Collins’ side bring to a close their Group C campaign away to the Addicks, knowing already that their two points so far isn’t enough to secure qualification into the next round.
Similarly, Charlton are also out of the competition after collecting just three points from their five games, sitting one point ahead of Wolves.
AFC Bournemouth and Norwich City will progress into the knockout stages, while Charlton and Wolves will play out for third place this evening.
The two sides met at Aggborough back in November, as goals from Toby Bower and Patrick Casey secured the three points for Charlton.
Despite a premature ending to their PL Cup campaign, Wolves have enjoyed success in other competitions – qualifying for the knockout stages of the International Cup while also sitting ninth in the Premier League 2 table after last week’s victory against Arsenal.
Charlton brought a halt to three successive defeats last time out when they defeated Swansea City by a goal to nil, a result which leaves Chris Lock’s side sixth in the Professional Development League South division.
