Liverpool 2 (Hill 42, Glatzel 66) Wolves 0
Goals in each half condemned Wolves under-21s to a Premier League 2 defeat at Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Tom Hill and Paul Glatzel scored the goals for the Reds, as Wolves were beaten for the first time since the end of August.
James Collins’ side were on a three-game unbeaten run in all competitions coming into the game and there was little to separate the two sides for much of the 90 minutes.
The visitors made three changes from the team that drew 2-2 with Norwich City in the Premier League Cup on Tuesday evening. In came Joe Young in goal, Bruno Jordao and also Leon Chiwome, who scored late off the bench in Norfolk and was rewarded with a first start of the campaign following injury.
There was little action in front of goal for the majority of the opening 45 minutes and it took 42 of those for the first chance, which turned out to be the opening goal.
Lewis Koumas saw the ball drop to him inside the area and he did well to cross low into the box, before skipper Hill arrived to sweep home shortly before the interval.

The Old Gold looked a threat soon after the restart and Owen Hesketh was first to test the gloves of goalkeeper Fabian Mrozek as his solo run and strike was well kept out by the Reds stopper.
At the other end, Mateusz Musialowski struck a deflected effort back off the crossbar, with the visitors fortunate to see the ball rattle the woodwork and go away to safety.
A flowing move then saw Wolves progress nicely through the thirds and substitute Owen Farmer was able to make contact to Aaron Keto-Diyawa’s cross, but his flick was gathered by Mrozek.

Young was then called into action as he saved expertly from Hill, before Musialowski curled narrowly wide of the right-hand post.
Liverpool scored their second of the afternoon with little under 25 minutes left on the clock. This time, Hill turned provider as he slipped in Glatzel who did the rest with a low strike which crept in at the near post with the help of the woodwork.
Wolves pushed to find a way back into the game but were met by a stern Liverpool backline who saw the game out to inflict defeat on the youngsters.
