U21 preview | Blackburn vs Wolves

Wolves under-21s area heading north on Sunday afternoon, as James Collins’ side look to bounce back from their opening day defeat against Blackburn Rovers.

Please note, due to Premier League broadcasting restrictions, Sunday afternoon’s Premier League 2 Division 1 fixture with Blackburn will not be live streamed.

In their first game back in Premier League 2 Division 1 following their promotion, Wolves fell to a heavy defeat against Chelsea on Monday at Aggborough, but they will hope to get back to the winning ways they experienced during the second half of last season when they take on Blackburn.

Wolves were able to find the back of the net on Monday, when Nathan Fraser was picked out by a Luke Matheson cross before expertly guiding the ball beyond the Chelsea goalkeeper.

It was not the start to the league campaign Collins would have wanted for his side after an enjoyable pre-season jaunt to the USA to take part in the MLS NEXT Pro tournament, which included a victory over Chelsea.

Standing in their first win of the season is Mick Sheron’s Rovers side which also fell to defeat on opening day thanks to a 2-0 loss away at Everton.

Regulars in Division 1, Blackburn finished the 2021/22 season in ninth position, with nine wins from their 26 league matches, but the last time the teams met in Lancashire, Wolves took the spoils for the first time in Premier League 2 Division 1 back in 2019 thanks to a final minute curling strike from Taylor Perry.
