James Collins’ development side went into the international break off the back of a loss to Crewe Alexandra in the Papa John’s Trophy, but the team will be hoping to bounce back as they head to the other side of the region.
The under-23s are looking for their first win in four matches having dropped points to West Bromwich Albion at Molineux last time out in PL2 Division 2, as well as suffering a 2-0 loss on the road at Stoke City.
But with more time to work on the training ground due to having just a few days off in the international break, Collins will be hoping his players put in a better performance than they did at Crewe, after saying his side were second best in every aspect of the game.
In opposite form to Wolves, second-from-bottom Birmingham come into the game off the back of their biggest win of the season, as they claimed a 3-0 victory over the side sat at the foot of the Division 2 table, Middlesbrough, before the break.
With six places separating the sides going into tonight’s clash, if the young Blues outfit were to make it successive wins for the first time this season, they would close their gap to Wolves to just a two points.

WHAT THE BOSS THINKS
After playing at Molineux and Gresty Road in their two matches ahead of the international break, under-23 head coach James Collins said his players will be looking forwards to another trip to a senior stadium in St Andrews this evening.
“It’ll be great,” Collins said. “We’ve had the game at Molineux, we’ve had a game at Crewe and then our next game at St Andrews.
“Those are where the players want to be playing, we want to be playing in stadiums, but what we have got to do is put on a better performance than we did.”
