Morecambe’s victory over Carlisle United on Tuesday night confirmed it was Mark Kennedy’s side who would progress as Group G North runners-up, behind Blackpool.
Wolves were beaten at Bloomfield Road last week, meaning qualification hopes out of their own hands, but five points was enough to earn a place in Saturday’s draw.
The penalty shootout bonus point earned at Morecambe in October proved crucial for Wolves, who ended a point ahead of the Shrimps, having also beaten Carlisle United 4-2 at Brunton Park.
The draw for second round will take place on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday from 2pm on Saturday 16th November, with ties set to take place in early December.
The 32 teams will remain divided into north and south draws, with group winners enjoying the luxury of a home tie against a group runner-up.
Wolves will face a northern away game, but are guaranteed to avoid Blackpool, having already faced the Seasiders in the group stages.
It means Wolves will face one of the following four teams away from home:
- Leicester City U21s
- Accrington Stanley
- Salford City
- Port Vale
