We must fight until the end, says Otasowie

Defender Owen Otasowie admits his Wolves team mates need to start fighting until the end of matches after the development side fell to late heartbreak for the second game running.

The under-21s fell to Blackpool following a 93rd minute winner in the Leasing.com Trophy on Tuesday night after the under-23s conceded a 96th minute equaliser on Friday night against Derby County in Premier League 2. Although pleased with the overall performance of his team mates, the USA youth international said the only negative from the game against the Tangerines was not concentrating until the final whistle.

On late defeat against Blackpool

“I thought we played really well, we defended really well, we gave everything to do what we needed to do, but we were just unfortunate to concede a late goal. Other than that, I thought we fought really well, and it was just unfortunate.

“When you see the goal go in, we were all gutted. I think it was just really hard for us all to take, but now we’ve got to move onto the next game and get our heads back up in training.”

On taking positives from the match

“It’s important to take the positives from the game and make sure we continue to do what we did well and try to improve on what we didn’t do so well.

“We need to fight to the end and make sure everyone is concentrating, make sure you don’t lose who you’re marking, until the final whistle.

“Fight until the end. That’s the one thing that we haven’t done yet, but we’ll get together and try to do that next game where we will hopefully get the win.”

On relying on Morecambe to get a result

“At the end, the manager came in and told us that we’d done really well and just tidy up those small mistakes which we haven’t been tidy enough with – especially in those late parts of the game.

“We just need to improve on that, get a win to get us going and get us back in our stride, and then we’ll be fine. Now we’ve just got to hope the result goes our way next week.”
