Wolves 4 (Samuels 6', 45'; Francis 31'; Goncalves 69') Norwich City 0

Wolves Under 23s cruised to a comfortable 4-0 victory over Norwich City in Premier League 2 at Compton Park.

A first half brace from Austin Samuels followed by goals from Ed Francis and Pedro Goncalves cemented Wolves’ second place in Premier League 2 Division 2.

On a brisk evening at Compton Park, Wolves began the game brightly as Ryan Giles was played in on goal inside 20 seconds. He attempted to round the goalkeeper but his touch just took him wide of the onrushing McCracken, he then crossed but Norwich were able to clear.

Minutes later Wolves were ahead. Giles, again involved as he showed blistering space down the Wolves left before picking out Austin Samuels who neatly turned before slotting the ball beyond the Norwich ‘keeper.

It was the home side who continued to dominate and it was 2-0 just after the half-hour mark. Wolves played a corner short, Pedro Goncalves crossed low and Ed Francis was on hand to score his first for the club since signing from Manchester City in January.

Wolves didn’t let up as Austin Samuels grabbed his second of the evening on the stroke of half time as he was superbly picked out by Dion Sanderson before firing Wolves into a three-goal lead at the break.

The second half lacked action but Wolves did manage to add a fourth as Pedro Goncalves prodded home from six yards out to seal the victory in Premier League 2.

QUOTES

Rob Edwards said, "I'm obviously pleased with the result, pleased with the clean sheet, pleased with four goals but I'll be honest I just want more from the players.

"It was comfortable but it shows how far those players have come when you walk off the pitch winning 4-0 but we just want a little but more.

"There's bits to work on and to build on as always but as a team it was a solid performance."
