Under 23s defender Aaron Hayden has revealed that the side are high on confidence heading into their play-off semi-final game against West Ham United on Monday night.
Scott Sellars’ side go into the game unbeaten in six in the league, including four successive wins, and Hayden believes that progressing through the play-offs would cap off a fantastic season.
Ahead of the game, Hayden said: “There is a great buzz around the team at the moment, especially heading into the game against West Ham, because there is a great team spirit in this group this year.
“We have had a really good season and we have improved a lot compared to the season that we had last year, so confidence is really high at the moment.
“We have got a great set of lads this year who are not only friends on the pitch but off it as well so we all know how to pick each other up should we not be having a great game personally.
“Scott has got us all settled in this year in the way he wants us to play. When we go out onto the pitch we know how he wants us to play as a team and as individuals.
“We are very confident because we have been on such a good run of form heading into the game and we are trying to use the confidence that we have to our advantage.
“We are all really positive and are all fully focused on finishing the season with the end product that it deserves.”
With the game being held at Molineux on Monday evening (7pm), Hayden is also looking forward to playing in front of a crowd and he admitted that playing in a stadium adds that extra special touch to the occasion.
“It is such an indescribable feeling walking out into the stadium because that is where you want to play every week as a player,” he says.
“You aspire to be playing there as a first team player so it is great that we have been given the chance to play there.
“It is so much different to playing at a training ground because it is more special as it is built up into a big occasion.
“We have all of our families there to watch us and there are other members of the club there watching us as well.
“We are playing in a great stadium and the occasion is huge so as a group we are all ready to go.”
