After pulling off impressive saves to keep his team in the game, Jose Sa insists the Wolves squad are still believing after picking up a hard-fought point on the road against Nottingham Forest.
The goalkeeper had to be at his best to stop Forest from finding the net with their 35 shots which they aimed as Sa’s goal, but the goalkeeper and the defence stood strong to keep only their third clean sheet of the season.
And despite sitting on just nine Premier League points heading into an FA Cup clash with Grimsby Town this weekend, Sa believes the squad still has faith that they can pull off an miracle end to their campaign.
On a clean sheet at the City Ground
“I’m proud that I didn’t concede and I helped my team to get one point, at least. Of course, we want to win, but in the end, it was 0-0, so it was nice for everyone.”
On his double stop to deny Morato
“I don’t know what happened. I haven’t watched it back yet, but it all happened very fast. To be fair, I didn’t believe in the end that I saved it, but of course, I was very happy because I helped.”
On continuing to fight
“We still believe. But of course, everyone knows that it’s difficult. All we can do is to try our best to collect the points that we can, and we will see in the end.
“Of course [Derby’s record points total is on the players’ minds], but I don’t want to be on this type of record.”
On facing Grimsby this weekend
“It’ll be nice [to have a break from the Premier League]. We need it. But to be fair, this year we are doing well and we’ve already got some points, and we will try now to continue this.
“In the end, we will try to have the maximum points that we can.”
On Mane’s performances
“It’s good that he is helping us, and we try to help him too. Of course, he’s young, he has a lot to learn, but we are here to help him.”
