Krejci | 'A good point and a base that we can build on'

Ladislav Krejci feels Wolves finally got the result their performances have deserved after ending 2025 with a point away at Manchester United thanks to his headed equaliser.

The Czech defender was in the right place at the right time just before half time to turn Hugo Bueno’s corner into the far corner of the net and get the Old Gold back on level terms at Old Trafford in the final outing of the year.

After not getting anything from their last three away matches, which have seen Wolves push Aston Villa, Arsenal and Liverpool all the way but leave empty handed, Krejci believes the well-deserved point against Man United proves there is more to come from the side in the new year, beginning with aiming for a first win of the campaign with the visit of West Ham United to Molineux on Saturday.

On a first point since October

“We’re happy with it, it’s something that we can build on when we go into the second half of the season, and also for the next year.

“Of course, we want more, and we could have got more, but we also could have lost the points in the end.

“But also, in the end, we were close to conceding but it was offside, so we were also a bit lucky, but this is how it is and we have to take it and go. It’s a good point and a base that we can build on.”

On finally getting the result they deserved

“I’m pleased that we’ve finally got the result we deserved from the game, because if you want to build confidence, you need to get something. How can you build confidence when you’re always losing? It’s hard.

“But I hope they also saw it the last game against Liverpool and at Arsenal away. Now, we showed it [against Man United], and we believe we can keep going.

“Unlike in the past games, we didn’t get anything from them, but now we get something, and I believe – and we believe – that in the future it will change.”

On getting the equalising goal

“From the beginning, I know I was totally free, but I was surprised. I thought, ‘Ok, maybe I can find some good space to be ready for some flick-on or something’.

“In the end, I saw the ball go towards the back post, and I know I need to play on the back post. I was on the back post and from my perspective, I hit it well, so I was happy.”

On the support of the Wolves fans

“I’m happy for me, for my team and for all the fans, and we want to thank them, not only for today, because it was amazing what they did, but for the whole year as they are together with us.

“We know it’s not easy for us, for them, for our club, but we feel they are with us, and it’s very important. In the end, you heard only them, so that was amazing.

“But we need to be together because it’s a hard situation, we will not lie, but only together, with a positive mindset and belie, can we get through it. I thank them and hope the next year will be the best in the football and also in their lives, so thank you to them.”

On taking momentum into the new year

“It will not start Saturday, it will start tomorrow. That’s the only thing what we can say to the supporters and we can promise – that we will build on it in the trainings to show everything that we can in the game.

“I hope we will win for first time in our stadium and it will bring the energy to us, to the fans and to everyone.”
