Jhon Arias believes Wolves’ performance and point against Manchester United to round out 2025 has given the players faith that the new year will bring much improved results.
The Colombian forward played in a deeper midfield role at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening, due to Andre serving a one-match suspension, and produced an impressive personal display to help his side to a well-deserved draw – and just a third point of the season so far.
But having been linked with a move back to Brazil following an underwhelming first half of his debut Premier League campaign, Arias has reiterated his commitment to the Old Gold, and is determined to go into 2026 with a renewed desire to turn Wolves' season around.
On taking a point from Old Trafford
“It was definitely the result we deserved. We played a very good game, and for me personally, it was special to be back in the starting XI, to play again in one of the great stadiums of the world, a place where every player dreams of playing one day.
“Manchester United are a very historic opponent, very strong, known all over the world and across different cultures, but today we had that motivation to put in a great performance here.”
On the brilliant Wolves support in Manchester
“After taking just three points from 19 matches, you might expect a very different reaction from the Wolves supporters, but for me, as a South American, it’s an interesting cultural contrast, as we’re used to a different kind of atmosphere when things aren’t going well.
“But I think this shows the culture and the love the supporters have for this team. Regardless of results that haven’t been good, we’ve lived up to what this club and this competition demand today and the fans have been there for us, at home and away
“After the season we’ve had so far, they travelled here to support us and I hope they’ll go home happy with the point, but above all with the team’s performance.”
On starting afresh in 2026
“It’s no secret to anyone that the first part of the season has been below expectations, below the demands of this club and this league. It’s a very competitive league, I think the best in the world, and we haven’t been at the level required. That’s not a secret.
“But on a personal level, I know the group of players we have, I know the kind of player I am and what I can bring to this team. Hopefully this change of year, 2026, will come with joy and allow us to show a better side to ourselves.
“I think we can put in better performances and that the results will come. Today’s result, even though we didn’t get the three points, is good for confidence and hopefully 2026 will be better.
“I believe we have the tools to show a much better version of ourselves in the Premier League.”

On being committed to Wolves
“I’ve said it before, it’s normal for these things to happen. We know the season has been difficult and that we haven’t been at the level we wanted.
“There’s also a World Cup coming up. I’m a national team player and I want to be there, I want to be in top form, because it’s my dream to play at the World Cup, so these kinds of rumours always appear.
“But right now, I’m here at Wolverhampton, fully focused on Wolverhampton. My present is here. I’m very professional and I’m 100% focused on doing things right here, on improving, on giving what I can as the player I am.
“It’s a club that needs me at this moment. I’m here and I’m going to try to do things better, because I know I can be better and that we, as a club, can deliver better performances in the Premier League. That’s my focus right now.”
