Tolu Arokodare and Jackson Tchatchoua face World Cup play-off ties over the coming weekend, as two of the 11 Old Gold stars on international duty this November.
The qualification process for next summer’s World Cup has reached a critical point, and Nigeria and Arokodare face Gabon in a play-off on Thursday, before a potential final the following Sunday in Rabat, Morocco. He could face Tchatchoua and Cameroon in the final, as they take on DR Congo on Thursday, fighting for a place in Sunday’s final.
Jean-Ricner Bellegarde and Haiti face two World Cup qualifiers, both on home soil over the weekend. They host Costa Rica, before welcoming Nicaragua five days later, having taken five points from four matches, but needing to make up ground on Honduras at the top of the group.
Meanwhile, Jorgen Strand Larsen, David Moller Wolfe and Norway know if they beat Estonia on Thursday, they’ll all but have secured a place at the World Cup. Norway haven’t featured at a World Cup since 1998 and face second place Italy in their final qualifier, but know their goal difference will see them through regardless, should they beat Estonia.
Portugal and Jose Sa look set to join Norway at next summer’s tournament. They have ten points from 12 available and a positive total from qualifiers with the Republic of Ireland and Armenia this weekend will see them qualify.
During the October internationals Santiago Bueno captained his country and will hope for more opportunities to impress during a pair of friendly matches. They’ve already qualified for the World Cup, and they have friendly matches with Mexico and USA.
Emmanuel Agbadou and Ivory Coast have already qualified for the World Cup, so face two friendlies either side of the weekend, facing Saudi Arabia on Friday and Oman the following Tuesday.
Colombia too are already assured of their place at the World Cup, and Jhon Arias has been called up for their friendly double header with New Zealand and Australia, both in the United States.
South Korea also have a pair of friendly matches to prepare for, both taking place on home soil. They face both Bolivia and Ghana either side of the weekend, and Hee Chan Hwang will hope for minutes on the pitch.
Finally, Tawanda Chirewa has linked up with Zimbabwe for friendly matches with Algeria and Qatar, which will take place on Thursday and Monday.
