Toti | 'It’s a time to work more and more'

Wolves captain Toti says Wolves must take the organisation and commitment from the first 45 minutes at Stamford Bridge into their fight for Premier League survival.

The Old Gold were resolute before the break against Chelsea, going in for the break level, before the home side upped the tempo in the second period and took the game beyond the reach of Wolves.

The Premier League now takes a break for the final international period of 2025, but many of the Wolves squad will remain at Compton Park, including Toti, ready to work in a bid to turn their season around.

On the first half providing a foundation

“We need to build from it. We know there’s a lot of work to do, and that’s what we’re going to keep doing. Right now, we’ve got an international break, and it’s a time to work more and more, and that’s what we’re going to do. We’ll focus on that.”

On staying strong mentally

“It’s not easy. It’s been 11 games and no wins, so it’s tough, I’m not going to lie. We need to be mentally strong, physically. We need to be ready, it’s a fight and we still have a lot of games to go, and we’re definitely going to keep working for that first one and I hope, after the first, more will come.”

On frustration with the Chelsea result

“It’s tough again, especially after the good first half we did. Of course, we were defending a lot, we knew we were going there for it. We did a very good first half and were expecting more from the second, but it’s always a tough pitch to go and get points. I’m very proud of all the players and we definitely want to keep pushing.

“We knew they were going to come with a lot for the second half, especially after the first half, they had so many chances. We were defending very well, we knew they’d try and come with a different approach for the second half. We were trying everything not to suffer a goal. They have a lot of players, a lot of resources.”

On reacting to going behind

“There was a lot of space. We tried to respond after their first goal, and it’s not easy. We tried to keep pushing even more, trying to have more shots on the goal, but after they came again with the second and third goals, and it was tough for us.”
