Krejci | 'Only we decide our energy, our mentality'

Ladislav Krejci says James Collins and Richard Walker did everything they could to prepare Wolves for their trip to Chelsea but blamed sloppy defending as the reason behind the defeat.

Under the interim guidance of Collins and Walker, Wolves defended well in the first half and were resolute enough to go in level for the break, but Chelsea were clinical after it.

The hosts scored three times without reply to extend Wolves’ winless run further and Krejci has now called on the group to rest and reset, before the hard work must start again after the international period.

On a difficult week at Wolves

“There was a lot of changes, a lot of situations in the club. It wasn't easy, but I want to thank the staff because they gave 100 per cent for us. They tried to give us as much information as they could.

“Until the first goal we were really compact. We tried to keep the clean sheet, but from one situation that we didn't defend right, we concede the goal, and after we lose the game. It's not a good situation, but now through the international break we need to rest and take some energy.”

On conversations amongst the players

“He [James Collins] spoke with us a lot, he tried to give us clear information about what he wanted from us, and to be honest, I think for the first hour we did everything by the plan, but after a minute were not in the right positions, and that's why we conceded goals.”

On a reset after the international break

“For us now, every day is important, and only we decide how our energy, our mentality will be in training, and into the games. Let's take a rest and come again.”
