Pereira | 'We are trying everything to get results'

Vitor Pereira says his side’s second half showing against Chelsea in midweek displayed that they can compete with Premier League sides.

The head coach rang the changes for the cup tie and, despite a poor first half, saw fight and desire from his players after the break, which gives him heart when preparing the group for Fulham on Saturday.

He’s now called on his players to show the same attitude and desire at Craven Cottage, and insists that the club’s first Premier League win of the season is nearing.

On continuing to look for solutions

“My work is today, the present, to spend my hours trying to find solutions, to help my players, to help my club, to help the team, and to reach a win to offer to our supporters. This is my life, from seven o'clock in the morning until seven o'clock in evening.

“I just know one way to change the situation, and this is working hard every day, trying to convince the team that we have quality, to keep the energy, to go to the next game with ambition, with organisation, increasing our level of tactical organisation, because I believe that the fans deserve, and we deserve, results.”

On taking positives from Chelsea

“In the second half the players, the team proved that we have quality, ambition. We are united, we are trying everything to get a win and to get results, to fight for the best position in the table. This is the spirit that I want to see, not just in 45 minutes, but in 90 minutes.

“In my job I must keep my balance, I must keep my focus on the team, on the players, helping them to be better and to get results. Every game is a chance for us to get the result, and this is another chance for us, and we need to get them.”

On giving players opportunities

“Against Chelsea, the first half, I decided to change the team, because it's three matches in a short time and they are working hard every day. I believe in the players, and I believe this is a good opportunity to show that they are ready to help the team. We changed the system, and some players were trying to help in another position, and our first half was not good because we conceded easy goals.

“In the second half we competed with Chelsea, pushing them, creating chances, scoring three goals, and we had chances to score four or five, and just conceded one. It means that we can play at this level. What is missing is confidence. We must work every day to be consistent, not to show two faces.”

On having belief Wolves can compete

“If you ask me which game the level of the other team was so high we didn’t have chance to compete, I don't remember it. This moment, I think we are in conditions to start to get results.

“This is the first time in my career that I'm facing this kind of situation. But I'm resilient. I have confidence in work, in my players, and we have conditions to turn over the situation.”
