Tchatchoua | 'The team is on a good way to do good things'

Jackson Tchatchoua is excited to be back at Molineux this weekend as he believes the backing of the Wolves supporters is vital to the team’s hopes of picking up their first Premier League win of the season.

One of six new additions made to Vitor Pereira’s squad this summer, the Cameroonian defender admits he and his summer signings have had to take time to adapt to life in the English top flight.

But as the team look to get three points for the first time this season when Brighton & Hove Albion arrive in the Black Country on Sunday afternoon, Tchatchoua is confident the players are now showing they are up to speed with the Premier League – as has been reflected in the recent upturn in Old Gold performances.

On late heartbreak last time out

“The feeling was a little bit strange because you want to win this match, and in last minute, you concede a goal, but the feeling is like this because I think we did a good match, and when you concede in the last minute you feel a little frustrated.

“The team did well, and my teammates dis the maximum to get a good result from this match. But I think the team is on a good way.”

On recent improvements

“I think the team needed to adjust something. But the team is on a good way to do good things. We need to wait a little bit and find a good balance to take the points in this championship.

“For me it is the same. I can adapt to what the coach needs for the team. At the moment, he thinks the best information is with a four and I think all of the players need to learn and adapt to this system.

“Everything’s new and when things are new, you need to take time, but I think the team and the players are also smart and can learn faster in this new system. For me, it's not a problem.”

On his adaptations with the Old Gold

“The big difference has been the high intensity. In this championship, the intensity is very, very high, and also the last 10 minutes is very different to any of the other championships. In the Premier League, in this last 10 minutes, everything can happen. You can win, lose, draw, and this is very different.

“But match after match, I think the team has become better, and me also. I feel this. I also feel what I can improve with the ball; be calmer and easier. When you begin a new championship, you have some stress, and sometimes you feel a little bit of pressure, and you lose some easy balls. This is something I can improve on this side.

“But football is like this. You need to adapt every time, on the situation, on the new team, on the new formation, but that’s why we are also professionals, because adapting fast to the situation is one important quality you need to have.”

On facing Brighton this weekend

“They have had a good beginning to the season, but every team in this league is good, and have good players and good quality.

“You don't need to be afraid about Brighton or any other team, because every team is good but we are also good. All we need to do is push to do something good this weekend.”

On having home support at Molineux

“It's very nice. I really like it; the stadium also the supporters because they push the team every time, and also now, in bad moments, it's very important to stay together.

“I don't know if you say this in English, but in French, we have a saying, ‘After rain comes the sunshine’. So you need to be together.”
