Krejci's performances earn him monthly award

Ladislav Krejci has been voted the SUDU Player of the Month just five weeks after joining Wolves.

The Czech Republic international joined the club at the end of August from Girona and has made an immediate impact in his first four matches for the club across the month of September.

Krejci showed his versatility, playing in two different positions and three different systems, and looked assured in midfield during his debut at Newcastle United. That’s where he remained against Leeds United, when he scored his first Old Gold strike following a run from midfield and assured finish.

The following Tuesday the 26-year-old moved into defence in a back four and helped Wolves to a Carabao Cup victory over Everton, providing the cross for the opening goal during the 2-0 win.

Finally, he continued his assured start to life in England with a solid performance in Saturday’s draw with Tottenham Hotspur, where Wolves employed both a back four and three.

Having been handed his award at Compton Park by Fer Lopez, Krejci said: “I appreciate it. I didn't expect it, so I'm surprised. I'm so grateful for the trophy, but in general to be here.

“The first month for me personally was really important. I was happy that I started in the matches, starting to be part of the team. The team is very good, the atmosphere is also nice. A lot of funny guys, but also a lot of hard workers.”

The win over the Toffees and draw at Spurs represented a turnaround in momentum for Vitor Pereira’s side and, having settled into the group quickly, Krejci is confident the results will continue to arrive.

“I feel the end of the month was better than the start, and this is the most important for me, that we won in the cup and put in a very good team performance at Tottenham, and I believe that we will continue in the next month like this.

“I tried to adapt as fast as possible, not just to the ‘Prem’, but for our style of play. I hope I will be better and better, the same as our results. I believe that we will build something big here, and it will grow.”
