Vitor Pereira has called for a unity and togetherness this weekend, after the head coach signed a new contract with Wolves.
The Portuguese, who has made such a positive impression during his nine months at Molineux, has spent a full week with his complete squad and now has his full focus on Leeds United at Molineux on Saturday.
Pereira has been encouraged in recent weeks, despite four defeats to begin the Premier League campaign, and has now called for a united front to help the Old Gold’s win for a first three points of the season.
On being Wolves head coach
“I’m very proud. It's an honour for me. This is the club that gave me the chance to come to the Premier League, the best league in the world. The people here embraced me as a member of the family, me and my staff we feel very good in the city, among the supporters. We have a very good group of players, good personalities. This is the time to work and to achieve our targets.”
On taking confidence from recent games
“In those games, I saw the spirit of a team and they were there. I saw the spirit of the team, I saw the commitment of the players, and of course we will increase our level because we need to have more quality with the ball, we need to put everyone on the same page tactically and mentally.
“That’s why I really believe that with our work, with our supporters, with the support of the club, the fans and the city together, we will do it. We will increase our level, and then the next game, it will be very important for us, because we need the three points and we’ll go with confidence, with ambition to make our supporters proud on the pitch.”
On a big game Saturday
“This is the moment that we need to be united. This is the moment that we need to go there, in our stadium, and show that we are a family, that we are together. In the moments that we need to suffer, we need to suffer together. In the moments that we need to feel the energy, it is important for the fans to send them the good energy.
“We are a one club city, and this city loves football. It is a passion. This is the spirit that we need to create together, to face and to compete with the best teams in this league.”
On the new players coming in
“I’m happy with the work of my players. This is the time that we need to have a bit of patience because they come from different leagues, and the Premier League is a different league. It is a league that demands a lot from me, from the players, from everybody, and this is the time that they need our support. This is the time they need the support of our big fans. This is the time that they need to feel embraced from our family.”
On a full week on the training pitch
“They are working hard every day. We had the opportunity to be on the pitch the last three days, and they’ve shown the ambition. They’ve shown that they want to help, they want to be at the best level. They just need to feel the confidence to get results, and the results will bring confidence.”
