Wolves were second from bottom of the Premier League standings when Pereira arrived into Molineux – with his appointment coming just a day after a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town.
The Portuguese found a team who had won just twice in the league all season, and were five points away from safety. However, the 56-year-old inspired the Old Gold to an incredible record during the second half of the campaign.
After two wins and a draw from his opening three matches immediately started the turnaround, Wolves would go on to pick up points from 12 of their next 18 under Pereira, including 10 wins, as the head coach steered the team away from any trouble.
A well-respected and much-admired manager by everyone associated with the Old Gold, Pereira has also endeared himself to the Wolves supporters and created a connection which has brought the club tighter together.
Pereira is up against Brentford’s Thomas Frank, Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe, Nottingham Forest’s Nuno Espirito Santo and Liverpool’s Arne Slot in the running for the manager of the season award.
