Jorgen Strand Larsen believes his FA Cup hat-trick against Shrewsbury Town at Molineux will give him the confidence he needs to get back among the goals in the Premier League for Wolves.
The Norwegian scored twice before the break – the first after just nine minutes – and once on the hour mark to set Wolves on their way to a 6-1 victory against the League Two strugglers and secure the first trio of his gold and black career.
With a place in the fourth round of the cup secured and his team on a four-game unbeaten streak, Strand Larsen hopes the result will continue the positivity as Wolves look to turn their season around.
On a first Wolves hat-trick
“I’m obviously really pleased. Scoring goals is my job and I haven’t really been able to do it that much this season, so it’s good to see that you can still do it.
“It’s a good confidence boost for us today. I’m pleased that we continue our non-losing streak and we, we are on a good way to get back to where we were last season.”

On four games unbeaten
“It definitely brings some confidence to all of us. Shrewsbury came really strong today. They were pressing high, they were coming strong at us, and we actually had to really make an effort today to find the spaces.
“But we respected the game, and I think we did well to score early to kill the game a little bit. Obviously, we were unlucky with the penalty, so it made it a bit more dodgy and difficult for us, but at the end of the day, I think that’s what happens in the cup.
“We always have to keep on going and I think the lads did really well, and I’m pleased with the team. It’s been a struggling season, but we’re trying to be positive now in 2026 and take as many points and win as many games as we can.”
On scoring an early goal
“Scoring early was part of the plan, but I think that’s something we have to do in every game. It doesn't matter who we play against, because we’ve got the quality in the team, and I think that’s what we’ve been missing in the past few months, and especially this season.
“It’s felt like we were going out a little bit scared. But today, obviously we know we should win the game, but I can feel in the team that we were not scared.”

On improving the attacking threat
“We were playing through the lines, and especially for a striker, then spaces opens up I feel like that’s something we’ve improved lately, and with Rob especially, but I think we have to do it more in the league as well.
“That’s something we really can improve, but players like Mane and Channy and Jhon have done really well to do that and to bring strikers into the game, so I’m really pleased that we’re playing better at the moment.
“That makes the striker score more, so I’m pleased for that, and hopefully we can continue to do that.”
On continuing the positivity next weekend
“These results have been what we needed to be positive in the second half of the season.
“Now we have a few days to get our legs rested a little bit because it has been a really tough period with a lot of games, but we’re here to bounce back on Sunday [against Newcastle United] and win another football game.
“That’s the main goal.”
