Wolves Stateside | Visiting Jacksonville

Jacksonville was the next stop on Wolves’ pre-season tour of the United States over the weekend and plenty was packed into the fleeting trip.

Arriving in the north of Florida on Friday afternoon, Hugo Bueno, Tommy Doyle, Pablo Sarabia and Jorgen Strand Larsen instantly met with supporters who’d travelled to greet them.

The players were given a warm welcome, answered supporter questions, posed for photographs and signed autographs for 45 minutes at their Jacksonville hotel, with head coach Gary O’Neil also dropping by.

Many of those supporters then headed to Culhane’s Irish Pub for a pre-match celebration with West Ham United fans. Old Gold legend Steve Bull was joined by Jack Collison and Anton Ferdinand on West Ham, answering questions on stage and posing for photographs, before the party continued.

Saturday was matchday, so the players spent the daytime relaxing and preparing for the initial 7pm kick-off at the EverBank Stadium.

After meeting Wolves fans in Jacksonville, Pablo Sarabia says their support from so far away made him proud to represent the club.

He said: “It’s very good. It’s amazing to have the support in USA. It’s amazing to look at these people and see they’re Wolves fans – I’m proud of these people. It was a surprise, but it’s a very good surprise to feel their support. It’s familiar and it’s amazing to feel that. It’s very good because they’re happy for us.

“It’s good having pre-season here. It’s different, but we’re trying to hold our level, hold our intensity in training. It’s our aim in pre-season to come to Miami to enjoy it, but to work in training and it’s been good.”
